traveline-txt

traveline south east now provides information about bus services as a text-message to your mobile phone

For times of the next few scheduled departures from any bus stop, simply send the SMS Code for that stop to 84268.

Available SMS codes are now shown on the detailed itineraries from our journey planner, and are listed on every bus service timetable.  Please remember that each code is for one specific stop – and applies to one direction of travel.  The code for the stop where you get off will not be the same as the code for the stop where you get on.

If you want departure times for a specific service, simply add the service number to your message.

So for a stop in West Sussex which has the SMS code wsxadgdw – you would simply send that code as a text message to 84268.

If you only wanted times for service 12 from that stop, then your message would be wsxawgpj 12

Codes are easy to type – you only have to press a key once, even though this may show a different letter.  In this example, what you see on screen could be wpwadgdw – hitting the s key once shows as p, and hitting the x key once shows as the second w.

SMS codes are available now for about two-thirds of the region … codes for the rest of the region will follow very soon.  We will show SMS codes for stops outside the SE region when we are sure that information is available for those stops from their own traveline region.

traveline-txt+ will follow next year … in those areas where the movement of buses is monitored by real-time information systems, we plan to deliver that real-time information in the traveline-txt+ service.

Calls to traveline-txt cost 25p plus your network operator’s normal text sending charge.
